The Bucket

Acrylic on canvas board 10"x14"  (2008)

Painted based on my photo taken early morning on the shore of Wadsworth Lake, Kaszuby, Ontario. We used this old bucket to fetch water from the lake and finish the campfire the night before. The birch stick, partially burnt, completed my still life, or may be life just caught in a still moment....

Sunset over the Old Town in Warsaw

Acrylic on canvas board 10"x14" (2008)

One summer evening as I was walking with my old friends down the cobble streets of the Warsaw Old Town, I was awed by this view of the sun setting over the landscape. The picture taken against the sun did not turn out that great, but it became my inspiration for this painting.

Life Savers

Acrylic on Canvas 14" x 18" (2008)

I was there on this empty beach one frigid Sunday morning in February, as the sun just pierced through the clouds over the horizon of Lake Ontario. The icy snow was glistering on the beach canvas and there they were, two orange rings tided together to the pole. They seemed abandoned, but somehow maintained their sense of purpose and significance. After all, someones life depended on them....

Valentine's Day

Acrylic on canvas 18"x24" (2011)

It was February 17th, 2007 when for the first time I took ferry to Toronto Island across partly frozen lake. Out of many pictures I took on that beautiful day, it was this story I wanted to paint. Perhaps somebody was celebrating Valentine's Day on the island or the wind brought the balloon from somewhere else. It was laying on the pillow of snow, deflated and discarded, left in the cold..., just like my heart...

Battle at Kurukshetra

This battle and conversation between Krishna and prince Arjuna is the main subject of the Hindu scripture Bhagavad-Gita that is a part of the ancient Vedic Sanskrit epic Mahabharata.
I was approached by the member of the Hindu family, who wanted to have the illustration of Bhagavad-Gita epic on the wall in his house. It was a big challenge to paint this large 2x3 feet canvas with the level of details I was not accustom to. The religious charge of the image added to my intimidation. To this day I have no idea how I managed to finish this painting. It is in the private collection.

The Water of Life

Acrylic on canvas 31"x 39" (2011)

It is still life, but not so still. Perhaps “you could not step into the same river twice”, but in this case you can, as the water is recycled in the fountain of life, the same water but in a different cycle. The story is about the water that nourishes, sustains, and takes us to the next level in the cycle life.
